Crawford Reservoir
« on: Oct 20, 2015, 07:17 AM »
So how many people are going to hit Crawford this Ice fishing year?
I bid on some Lindy Jigs/Lures on Ebay (didn't need anything) and won the Auction. Now I have a lot of Ice jigs that are small which will work good for the Perch and Crappies out there. So I guess I will be going more then the last few years. Didn't go at all last year but should have. I only live 11 miles away.I mostly go to the Blue Mesa which is a lot further. Even with the $7 fee I would save some money on Fuel. Maybe it's time to figure out that lake.

Hey I didn't know that. I guess I should have ice a little sooner then. It's the deeper water that freezes slow.

Ya better hope it doesn't freeze to hard, you need a little room under the ice to jig!

Over by the dam side it is 90 Feet deep. So I am sure I'll find some water under there. ,I also have one of the only maps of the area before they filled it up.

Is there many features to the bottom of that  reservoir? I have never spent much time over there fishing.

A lot of different depths. From 6450 to 6600 feet. Of course that is if it was full to the 6600 feet ever.

I might have to go check it out this year. I fished it in the summer about 15 years ago from my float tube, had 2 crappie over 15" and a pile of 10-12 inchers. Havent been back since...not sure why.

Let us know how you do --- I always love seeing pics of Colorado crappie and perch.

For me, it's closer to hit NE and KS than Crawford, since I live in Denver.   I'm planning a trip or two out East for slabs this year.  ;)

The wife and I are thinking about taking a couple roadtrips east this year. Not sure where yet though.

I'd dearly love to find some good crappie and perch fishing if you could move Crawford about 240 miles closer to the front range. I've never had success ice fishing for warmwater species but maybe that's because I've never tried it. You can get stuck in a trout/pike groove. I'm always looking for an opportunity to buy new tackle that I may never use.
BigAss-- what's your favorite lake in western Kansas?
We're born, we live for a while, and then we die.  Sounds like a good reason to go ice fishing.

Lefty ?  There a motel in Crawford ?  Sounds like a place that my Wisconsin magic might work on perch.

Yo Nate, maybe team up for a trip out there ?
