Open Water?

Just wondering what bodies of water are ice-less right now?
Perch bait- a small minnow that can have big results in the ice fishing game.  :icefish:

Good question. Probably none, to very few if I had to guess...

Just thought I'd ask since it's easier to tell if the water's open then if the ice is safe.  ;)

Ice is unsafe in most of the places I have checked. I was on carry fishing for gills yesterday figuring that was the last day and there were 4 of us out there. The ice looked pretty good to me but was deteriorating fast and I chose to leave early. My fishing friend said he followed my tracks going off later in the day and he dropped through. He had on his arctic armor flotation suit and was able to roll out. He said he got wet from the waist down. I hear a couple of guys went through at the sandbar a couple days ago too. Time to clean up and put away all the gear at least for me.

Looked at Shelburne Bay this AM. The river is open while the bay itself is covered, but the ice looks terrible. I wouldn't go out on it and there was no sign of anybody else anywhere.

It was a bit foggy but it looked like the waves were washing onto the ice from the North at the mouth of the bay.

With open water it won't take many windy days before the ice is history.
May the fish be with you.

One more day!
