Hey all! just purchased a 14ft jon boat off of my uncle and I am trying to figure out how to use my lowrance ice machine as my fish finder for this boat.  I know I need to buy a skimmer transducer.  But I need help figuring out how to mount the transducer to something removable because it will not be a permanent fixture on the boat.  Anyone who has done this before with any pictures or ideas of their setups that could help me out would be awesome.

Please respond I need some help guys!

-Thanks,
John

It should come with a suction plunger mount if not order one.

May your tip-up spool while your flag raises with hopes of landing the big one.

Mount the transducer to the bottom of a 3/4 or 1" pvc pipe section. You can then use a 2x4 and screw in 3 of those broomstick holders, the ones you just push the broomstick into and it holds it.  Then mount the 2x4 to your boat with a clamp. Just push in the pvc transducer arm.  The holders will hold the transducer pvc firmly, but you can also raise it, lower it, or aim it very easily.  Pops out easily too!

You don't have to get a skimmer transducer.  I did the opposite of you almost and took my elite 7 HDI and converted it into a bucket for ice fishing.  That said the ducer I bought is not the skimmer one I have for DSI and such in the boat but if you attach it to the paddlesports kit extender it should work great and no need to get another ducer.

States for "skimmer" types but regular ducers work also and can be fit to it I would think.  ATleast this way its what it was designed for even though it may take a modification since you not using the skimmer style.

Hope it helps
