you have many options for cheaper LED lights that have all sorts of hooks, loops, hangers, etc.etc.. seems everytime I goto a local farm store or wallyworld, I spy a new or slightly different version of LED lighting.( battery operated).... I also have a headlamp fetish ...ha ha...gotta love that LED technology....

For my two man I have found the frabill shelter quad light bar to be the best overall as far as convenience, battery life, adequate and adjustable light, price and function. At $25 it's hard to beat for as well as it works. I just leave it hooked onto my center bar at all times, stows away fine. If you want to put a little more money and effort into you lighting, led strip lighting works great also.

I second the Frabill light bar.  Just takes, I think, 3 batteries, velcro it to the bar and you're set!

Lights from a tanning bed will work. Get a tan while fishing, just like the boat! LOL!

What size SLA do you use?  What concerns me about other options is that batteries loose voltage when they are cold.  I think using an SLA battery makes a lot of sense.  I used to have one strapped to my bicycle, it was awesome.

Heard great reviews on the clam light sticks they run off a flasher battery and are pretty bright at almost 600 lumens. I have also read guy hooking them to dimmer switches to control the brightness.  I think they run about 40 dollars depending on which size light stick you get. You can cut your pole and insert it in its place or use provided S clips to clip it to the pole if you do not want to cut the pole.

I was also concerned with battery life since most of my fishing is done in near zero temperatures at dark. Since using it though I regularly get 55-70 hours out of each set of batteries. Haven't needed more than 3 sets in a season, so about $6 in batteries gets me by. No longer a concern for me.

any of the small sla's work on them or even car batteries would work on them.
i use the lightest i have and thats a 6 amp hour and weighs about 6 pounds. it goes in a plastic ammo box w/velcro to hold it in place and a duck bill throw switch to turn on a light strip on the out side i added to to it to be used as a lantern for set up and take down of the hub shelter.
i want to add a quick connect for the led strip power. right now i just open it and use the spade connectors to power it and no switch. i had a remote dimmer switch, but it quit over the off season not using it for some reason. that was nice, you could leave the strip wound up in the box (still can do that) and connected and just pull out the remote and light strip and turn it on/off/bright/dim. i weave the strip thru the fiberglass rods to hold it. tried using velcro, but no need and just more work and time to use it.
i use about a 5-6 foot length of it. 5050 water proof strip and leave the paper backing on it, use some speaker wire and solder it up on light end and crimp on some spade connectors on power end and good to go. i pinch the ammo box lid onto the speaker wire in case it gets pulled accidentally, for now.
the box was only 5-6 bucks. the 15 feet of lights were 15 bucks. 20 bucks gets a ton of lights for a few places. i use a short piece under my sonar too for light outside the shack night fishing. just use your sonars battery.

Iv'e used different led lights and coleman lanterns in my flip over with different levels of success,I find
the wire on led strip lighting is very fragile and you have to tip-toe around the colemans due to the heat
they produce and can damage your flip over.I now use a 160 lumen black diamond head lamp which throws
a ton of light and is super light weight and has very long battery life.

Easiest: headlamp
Fun DIY project: LED strip lights

I think the headlamp is the most versatile and easiest solution.  You can use it to walk out to your fishing spot in the pre-dawn darkness, then use it in your shelter.  The rest of the year, it's useful for a multitude of things.  You can buy a cheap one for a little money or a really impressive one for a lot of money.  I find headlamps are indispensable for hunting, fishing and camping and own several of them.

After seeing some videos of some of the LED strip light projects, I decided to light up my Eskimo Quickflip1.  A 5-meter length of waterproof 5050 white LED lights is around ten bucks.  You may already have a sealed lead-acid (gel cell) battery, which is an ideal power supply.  For another five bucks or so, you can add a dimmer switch.  I liked the stuff and bought more strip lights to light the storage compartments and deck on my bass boat.

Tight lines,
Bob

Heres a $5 solution that works great. Couple broom holders, a nut and bolt, cheap, LED flashlight. Clip it where you want, aim it when you need. It only takes one to light up my Commando.

I like the Frabill Light Bar.  As a matter of fact, I like it so much, I'm going to put a second one in there next to the first one!  Love the fact you can adjust the angles of the individual puck lights.

Bought one of those fold up Mighty lights and zip tied it on the middle bar. Works great for around 20 bucks.

Bought led strip lights, waterproof shock proof ones, $5 a foot. Bought 6ft off a roll set flip over up bought small zip ties and attached it to too centre bar spaning the whole width of shack. At the one end there is a quick connect so once it's set up grab the power chord outta the pouch inside flip over plug it in and hook the alligator clips on the other end up to a flasher/camera style battery. It's very brite and have never had them kill the battery. Takes about 30seconds if that to get the lights going once shack is set up. Tried everything before I did this and nothing was a quick, easy and convenient  as this!
