Hey Everyone, Be Extremely Careful out there! I just went thru the Ice on Scobie pond in Derry.. I drilled 4 holes and the Ice was Fine Some Slush in spots.. I was making My way from the last hole and was about 15 yards away when suddenly I Was in up to My thighs, I immediately fell towards the Ice where I had last stepped and proceeded to crawl  out of the hole I was in... It all happened very quickly and it was definitely Scary.. Now I was pretty much soaked so I quickly gathered up My traps and gear and headed to My car.. I won't be going out alone again with all this snow cover..
I was about in the middle of the lake and in 15 to 20 feet of water..

Could these two instances have anything to do with the ice sagging due to weight of the snow and causing the water coming up through old holes to widen them?  Temps haven't gotten above freezing really for about a month now.

Damn dude, glad your still here to tell us about it. I found some pretty sketchy conditions last time I was out on a small pond that is usually very uniform and solid, 2 feet of snow on the ice is causing problems for sure.

Glad to hear you made it out safe.

I went through on Winni a few years ago. It was similar conditions as this year. Middle of the season with plenty of good ice but alot of snow cover. Scary experience.  Makes you think twice now...

Scary story, glad it had a happy ending. This snow is making things shaky, be careful especially alone.
