Smelt fishing Echo Lake
« on: Jan 31, 2015, 12:36 PM »
Hi I grew up in Ludlow VT and am going back for a week to visit my folks, we used to do real well ice fishing for smelt on Echo lake in Tyson,VT.
Was curious if anyone still goes out there after smelt? There used to be quite a few shanty's that would get set up out there, but my father says there
are a lot less these days.  Was hoping to get out a couple nights to give it a try, just wanted to see if anyone has been out on echo.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

I know they where catching smelt on Echo last year. Caught a few off the access the one time I tried it.Haven't heard any reports this year.. Most every one has gone to portable shantys now. Drove by last week and there were guys fishing in various locations on Echo. Good luck

That makes sense as I have a portable Shanty myself, hopefully I will be able to get out and give it a try
