Well, you're right Clamfarmer.

I don't fish. The annual trip to Cathance has been postponed to next weekend due to the storm. DR told us tonight we are working 10 hr days Monday through Saturday for the next two weeks. So, that counts me out. Things have got to change next year.

You've got to take up scallop dragging, 44. The state will tell you what days you can't drag, so then you go ice fishing on those days. On the days you can drag, you'll be done early enough to fish in the afternoon.  ;D

Soon the state will make a rule you'll have to give half your money you made scalloping to the guys who sit on their ass. Wait a minute, we already do that. :'(

I thought your answer would have been retirement. Fished scallops in my twenties. Enjoyed doing it but it wasn't as profitable as other jobs back then. I seriously can't remember the last time I was on the stern of a dragger. Got to find a balance between work and recreation. Setting my sights on trolling season now, I'll be back to being my own boss then. There is a lot to be said about self employment.

Well the whole thread is about Clamfarmer jabbing me a little about not fishing. God knows I want to, but work has taken over my life. I like to fish for cold water fish, not that TRASH fish CF goes for. ;D

 I’d say the water’s pretty cold everywhere, now.

I’m headed to WG the end of the month (or maybe the first weekend in March - trying to change the dates from feb 26/27 to March 5/6....something came up.) Got resi’s at Canalside. I’ll let ya know which one it is.

Get the three days around those nights off!

$45/night/person
3 beds. going solo so far.

Right now I am what they call a seasonal oil truck driver for Dead River out of the Ellsworth office. I do that from Dec. 1st to May 1st. Play around and dig a few clams in May, then lobster fish from June to Dec. This was a pretty good fit for me till this year. DR has changed their plan of operations which has resulted in very little time off. I like delivering oil but not 60 to 70 hrs. a week.
