Perch starting at Twin
« on: Jan 08, 2006, 10:48 PM »
We spent 5 hours on the ice at Twin today. Result 31 keepers for myself with my buddy icing 12 (he only used one line). All nice ones...8-11 inchers. Bite started at about 09:30 and was all but done at noon. White pimple was the most productive... tipped with a perch eye. A big bright yellow thing in the sky ??? did come out in the early afternoon turning on a bite but they were mostly dinky 4 inchers. Caught about 6 small tullibee and no burbot were to be had. Fished in the magical 11-12 foot depth... maybe 500 metres from shore.

Can hardly wait to try Blue Igloo's famous perch roll recipe!

Where exactly is Twin?  I wanna try my hands on Perch and Tullibee.  Don't know about the Burbot, kinda ugly fish... but hear they taste like cod.

Congrats FF........I'm drooling thinking about it........hope you like it....let me know!
Don't forget.....you can freeze the sauce but it becomes a little runnier when it is thawed out. Won't be long b4 I'll be perching but going to give the greenback another chance on Thurs am.

Did you just walk on?  Did the drainage freeze over?  I haven't been there since early December, but it hasn't been very cold...we wound up walking on further north after driving through St. Laurent.

500 m sounds better than the 800m into Kingfisher  ;D

Hi Thriller... about 500m out maybe a bit more. My pals a surveyor and good with distance ... we disputed the point ... guess a GPS would answer the question.  Just make sure your in at least 12 feet of water. Think its good anywhere at that change-up. Perch are not as numerous as they will be later on but enough action for two guys to fill a pail... should they know what they're doing. As for the drainage from Lake Francis, yes it's wide open. Would not suprise me if a few ducks were sitting in it!

JD, Twin Beaches is on L. Man. Can be reached via Highway #6. Just south of the community of St. Laurent. Check a provincial highway map to conferm.
