Clam 1-man Flipover LED light mods
« on: Jan 01, 2015, 10:08 PM »
Hey guys, I put in some 12v LED lights into my Clam Big Mouth today. A link to the lights I used is below:
http://www.amazon.com/Triangle-Bulbs-3528-IP65-White-60L-Waterproof-Flexible/dp/B005EHHLD8/ref=pd_ybh_1

Here are some pics for you guys. There are 2 strips of LED lights crudely wired down the poles to alligator clips that go on a 12v 7amp battery. No fancy battery box, just a simple setup that can get through the long haul in the dark.

Thanks for stopping and having a look.

CI

nice job. Looks nice and bright.

I was initially going to put 3 strips of LEDs on the poles, but then i figured that after I put up the first 2, it was more than bright enough!

I added light strips to the poles in my Kenai when I got it. Here are some pics of my set up. I put a strip on the pole above my head and another over the door. They are controlled separately through a switchbox.

The battery tray and switchbox.

The view thru the door with lights on.

Light strip over the front door.

Steellord, I was looking at getting a battery tray, but the way mine is setup, there is nowhere for my battery to go hardly at all.. So im gonna save the cash and not get a battery bracket.  Otherwise, nice light setup!

Those are the ones that I used, and you will need some very thin wire, a small soldering iron, and thin solder. After you cut the strip, you will see two exposed areas of copper to solder yourself some new leads onto, one positive and one negative. A very good video for it is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=11EY-5OUQ7s

I hope this helps

I guess these are the only ones that I have ever used, but Im sure that it makes a little bit of difference? I guess that when I put mine in, the biggest thing I did to save my eyes was to make sure that the LEDs are not pointed directly at me, and angled downwards.
