Jiffy Pro 4 Oil
« on: Jan 05, 2015, 09:18 PM »
Anyone running a different brand other than Jiffy 0w-40 in their Pro 4?  I feel I would get more for my money buying a different brand of oil like amsoil 4-Stroke or Mobil one.  Anyone know who makes Jiffy's oil for them?  Went through the first 5 pages on the search function and got zip.

Just to validate you on Amsoil, that's all I used in every machine I own, since 1988.  Can't beat it.

You may look at it that way, Kinosau.

It's not what you pay ~ it's what it costs you.    ;)2

If you try the rest ~ just go with the best, covered by a warranty, too.   ;D

Hm, that implies 'OK' is similar to 'Best' .      :woot: :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :nono:

I've been using Mobil 1 since the first oil change. Bought a couple quarts and just use that empty container from jiffy for a measuring device to refill when I change oil. Should be all set with any synthetic but I'd stick with the same weight, which I think is 0W40.
It must be something in the water.

Did anyone think it was broken the first time they changed it.  I was pretty surprised by it being milky white.  I called jiffy I thought it was broken.  The told me it was from using the propane.      Mark

I read that as well.  The oil won't appear black and "used" rather it will be milky.

I use the same 0w40 Syn that goes in my wheeler.  I get it through my friend's auto repair shop.  Not sure on the brand.  I do change my oil about half way through the season, and again at the end of the season.

Yes, the oil will look like milk.  Lots of water in the oil from burning propane.  That is why I change more often, and for sure at the end of season.  I would not want to store it all summer with the water in the oil.

Another plus for all Amsoil lubricants ~ Rust inhibiting qualities.      ;)2

He's an Amsoil distributor, he makes money by selling the brand. By the way, Mobile 1 is great oil, but you really can't go wrong with anything as long as it is the right viscosity.

i sure like reading into oils and tend to use quality oil in my truck, etc. However for an auger, you could put any brand oil you find on a shelf in a 0-40 and it will be just fine. change each year and you will never have an oil related issue. i find myself reading into which oils to use way too often as well. to each their own but you will notice ZERO difference between say a wal mart brand dino and amsoil in that 4 stroke. And no, I'm not saying amsoil is crap as i run it in my truck and not trying to start some dumb oil war again, just saying put any 0-40w in it and you will be fine.

The Mid-Ohio ice is growing! Rather than hand drill again this year (now 63 years old and in decent shape) I am planning to buy a Jiffy propane Pro4 Lite Auger with 8" blade. I am looking for you, my frozen friends, to guide me. Am I making the right choice???

Thank you Thomas.     ;D

But, no cigar this time.    The acquisition of wealth is no longer a driving force in my life.  I make nothing in sharing truth about the products. nor am I a distributor.  There are a few distribution centers located conveniently around the planet where the public and Amsoil Registered Dealers can pick up products.

But, I have been aware of Amsoil since 1977.    I've been getting acquainted with some of the engineers, metallurgist, chemist and R&D folks at Amsoil.     I continue my education in this realm and have seen many products fail, in tests preformed by "Independent Testing Laboratories" all of which continues, for guaranteed success in always producing items that equate to 'THE FIRST IN SYNTHETICS', which only Amsoil can say and is "Registered".

I refuse to respond to drivel.       ;)2     I wish you a very pleasant season on the ice, Sir.
