Most people fish on the far side near the island (East). There is a dredged channel there. The island, however, is private and unless you know someone, you cannot park there. So you park in the parking lot left of the boat ramp near the handicapped dock and hoof it from there. It's not a terribly long walk. If you want you can stop about 2/3rds of the way and fish the dredged area shown on the map. You'll see holes. Usually Bluegills and some Perch there and Pike on Tip-ups. I have tried the near side and even though there are dredged areas, I have not had much luck on this side (West).
Take advantage of the Mississippi Regs and use 3 tip-ups in addition to your 2 or 3 jigging rods allowed with your license. Beth will sell you Shiners (when available) or suckers for the tip-ups.
