sled cover???
« on: Dec 31, 2014, 10:21 PM »
I looked in the archives about this question and didnt get a clear answer.

I wanted to get a  sled cover, however im worried that I might have to much stuff in my sled. Will the sled cover fit over a "reasonable" amount of stuff (like my buckets standing up etc.? I know if I pack it up high like dang mountain it wont stretch, but  I mean I have a typical "hill" but worried with the bucket and all that the sled cover wont stretch over it. Any tips, ideas, experience, etc.?

If it's a Jet Sled (Full size Shappell) and you buy the Shappell cover then YES, it is designed to fit over 5 gallon pails. In fact, I just went to my basement and put a 5 gallon bucket IN a 5 gallon bucket IN a 5 gallon bucket (3 stacked inside each other) and have enough room to put another 3 stack next to it and still get the cover on (if that gives you an idea). Cover is a must if you are using a sled or a wheeler.

I also own a Shapell Jetsled1, and the cover has elastic that's sewn in the hem.  You'll like the cover, just not the price.  Almost cost what the sled cost, but I think it's put together pretty well, so I'm hoping it'll last me a while.

Just make one. I made mine, it was very easy. I picked up a nylon tent fly at Wally World for $15 or so, bought a few long bungie cords and sewed it up.

Works great.

RG is a very handy guy ., what I did was build a rack out of 1x2 , went full length , with 2 pieces  then 2 cross members good for three buckets and a little room in the front besides , and your auger sits I top of the pails , held into place by bungee cords , I and a few old flat fish guys been doing this for a very long time , simple and very easy ,

Actually it is an old Singer. I've had it for years. I'm not afraid to sew up something I want. It's really easy.
