Ice Prediction for Northern Lower Pennisula
« on: Dec 16, 2014, 02:15 PM »
Was wondering if people thought that the ice would be good again between Christmas and New Year's up north? If the ice isn't good here in southern Michigan by that time, then I'm prolly gonna head up there if its good

Everything that had a decent amount of ice is still iced over, its just covered in rain and melted at the shore lines. If the monthly prediction from accuweather plays out as shown, or at least close to it, everything should start locking back up at the end of this week. By the end of next week and the beginning of the following its calling for teens every night...That will do the trick for sure.

I went out and checked a lake close to me and it had water on the edges. Last week there was 8 inches of ice and I walked out about 4 foot thru the water and one wack with the spud it went thru 3 inches. We need cold temps and no more rain as that is what did the ice in

Lake last week, most lakes North of US-10 had fishable ice.  I was on much as 6-7" in some lakes.  I guess Lymans on Houghton Lake has put out a warning to stay off the ice until we get a few cold nights.  They are thinking this weekend.  As far as us in SW/West MI any lakes that did have the 2-3" of fishable ice are now rotted or completely open water again... :'(
