Looks like I might be traveling to Errol I looked up a few spots but came up with mostly trout ponds that I cant fish but I'll keep looking. Keeping fingers crossed as the weather is starting to get really cold again so maybe we haven't lost all the ice

Everyone is getting spanked by Mother Nature! Remember, she bats last an always bats .1000. Pouring rain now. Weather guys are talking 40's on Monday - Not yet! I know this is preaching to the choir but, with all the Christmas parties etc. Remember to get your 2015 license.

I fished in the whites on Sunday.  3 to 5 inches of ice.  Caught 2 picks.

??? ??? I was wrong!  Brookyslayer's depressing weather forecast was more than right!   But!  because I still have a lot of  forest and field work to do I appreciate the loss of the Mt. snow ;D
I do hope that the deep slush on top of the remaining ice will turn to deep  ice within a week?

That would be awesome but where I am (lakes region) the warm weather over the past few days has completely opened up some smaller ponds. Time to restart all over again ::)

i was talking to my buddy who lives on Halfmoon lake on the Barnstead/Alton line and he said it was frozen over so im hoping within a few weeks the lakes around alton will be ready for some action. We just need mother nature to stop pissing on us and blow that cold air in. im guessing the smaller lakes and ponds above plymouth must have some decent ice even with the rain/snow. my cousin lives in plymouth and he said even though its been above freezing its been dipping below 32 every night so maybe its making ice on top of the ice?? anyone else been looking????

I was out yesterday morning in Carroll County and we are on 3 inches maybe a little more in some spots but it was a mess.

Went out to my favorite early ice joint and it was dicey. About 3 inches of black under four inches of slush and about 10 inches of standing water in spots. Fished from 6:00 Am to 2:00 PM. Very slow. And the place was lousy with otters. They were popping out of the holes like Whack-a-Mole.

Just went over to my favorite early ice pond, -/10 acre pond in the lakes region. Edges were wide open with a few spots where I could get on a rock and close enough to the ice to throw my chisel. Was able to poke through what looked like 2" of rotten white ice with 4-6" of water on top. Was able to toss a snowball out to ice without any water on top. Dying to get fishing but not enough to go swimming! Might be driving way north this weekend or might just wrench on snowmobiles and fishing gear.

Normally I'm all in on first ice...this year is strange though. Seems like everything is snow ice- warm and cold, then rain and snow- I think it's gonna be a bit until there is some solid feel good about it ice- I have no issues on 3 inches of clear black but really haven't nor have the desire to test how little crap snow ice I can wander out on.....

it's a big risk venturing out on any ice in the southern half of the state. just gotta be patient or fish super shallow
