Dear Admin...
« on: Dec 04, 2014, 02:29 PM »
I hope you’ll consider adding a sticky to the top of this forum that explains to newcomers:
• the purpose and location of the Fishing Reports and Conditions portion of the Montana forum, and
• the minimum number of posts required to access that area.

While I understand the new folks asking questions here about specific lakes and ice conditions are well intentioned, we’re on our way to once again having numerous parallel conversations on the two subforums, which can be a little challenging to follow.

Thanks!
YOU are the only one who can decide if the ice is safe enough for you.

P.M. HIMO. He's the moderator that can help us out on the MT page. The MT boards do not have a full time appointed moderator.

Then you might want to check out the "Montana fishing reports and conditions page"...
If I\'m not fishing, I\'m probably thinking about fishing...And if I\'m thinking about fishing, I\'m probably not getting much else done so, I might as well go fishing...Yeah, I just said that!

Can't have discussions about ice fishing on an ice fishing discussion forum? Seems silly. I understand the lake conditions page, but guys have questions and they want to talk. Unless it is completely utter, useless, garbage talk....stop trolling bro. Nothing worse than a guy entering a forum just to complain.

Furthermore...should the picture page be for only pictures? Nobody congratulating eachother, nobody sharing info..sorry...now I'm trolling. I got agitated tho. What's the point of this site if we can't talk ice fishing?

All people joining IceShanty should  have to read the following when joining.
1. You need this many posts to be able to read ice conditions .
2. How to load photos on to IceShanty[ must read and check box or you will not be able to join]
3.How to load your avatar photo[check box or you will not be able to join]
4. Rules about posts [  check box or you wont be able to join]
Now that you finished the process,  Welcome to IceShanty

That would make it so much easier for everyone.

I'm not; I'm aware the FAQs and rules exist.  The problem seems to be they're not in a location where the new folks readily find them.   Whoops. Didn't initially notice that was at the top of your state page rather than the main index. That's EXACTLY what I was thinking. Thanks.

And, yes, I've "been there" too.  Just making a suggestion with the hope that not everyone has to go "there."  ;)

EXACTLY like that.  The guys doing the post 1, post 2, post 3,... bull is agitating.  Please add that to the Montana forum or make it a must read for all new members.  Thanks!
