i went ahead and bought the fish trap guide yesterday and that thing is awsome, only concern i have is when putting that black seal on the back then putting all them small screws in though the seal and into the tent, do you guys do this? is it going to cause my tent to rip if i get a big wind or is it ok.

thanks

  • Lured into it, get reel!
I have the Pro and it has the same set-up. It will be fine, if you don't use the screw it will keep coming apart. There are lots of screws holding the strip and it is the strip that spreads out the stress so it won't tear.

You will have no problems.  I did not like the little scews that came with so I went and bought a similar size screw but with a wider head.  Or you can get the same screw a little longer and put a small washer on it.  I found with the screws that came with it I was afraid they would go right through the rubber strip or tear the strip.  I will try and take a pic this evening for you.

This may be a little blurry, but it will give you the idea.

you will be fine. I did this to my old trap 12 years ago. back then, they only gave you the molding, nothing about screwing it on. After it came apart a few times I added the screws myself.

For the Pro I just got, I used thier screws. I would drill pilot holes with a small drill bit first. Those screws are fine, the molding as a metal reinforcement in it, they wont go anyplace.
