Anybody have any idea how much ice is on the Whiteshell lakes? Are they drivable yet?

Wanting to get out there next week.

Thanks.

Tip-Up is back...woo hoo!  It's probably time for me to visit Devonian again...the kids love having the slide when they tire of fishing.  Nice job on renewing the aquaria too.

We were on Devonian on the first day they allowed fishing and drilled the first holes of the season.  We had no fish, not a bite, not a flag.  But we were treated to a bizarre symphony of unnatural sounding ice cracking noises... it was very cool!  Has anyone caught anything there this year?

Hey Thriller hope I meet you and your family again on LM, in the New Year  :)
You've completely lost me on your quote above. Can you fill me in.
Now that my grandson is 4 going on 5 yo, I'm always interested in taking to places where HE can have fun in the outdoors. I'm trying to make sure he doesn't become one of those Nintendo Kids  ::)

Tip-up is General Manager (I may have the title wrong, but essentially top operational dog) at Fort Whyte.  This year there were some changes made to 2 aquaria in the Interpretive Centre - suckers were added to the small aquarium (it seems to me there was something else new in there, but don't recall at the moment) and white bass were added to the big one.  Lake Devonian is the first lake right by the Alloway Reception Centre - see http://www.fortwhyte.org/fwGrounds.html, although on another board, mention was made of Lake Devonian being closed as there is a skating loop or something like that on it, so they were fishing Lake 3.  There is a big slide near the reception centre - the kids have a blast going down it when they are tired of fishing.  With the cafe there, hot chocolate goes over well if anyone gets cold.

I hope that clears things up.  Unless I can hear definitively about Devonian today, we may hit Lockport for the numbers, then Fort Whyte for play time later in the day.
