Donnmar Checkpoint Stainless Pliers, I rinse them off in the salt water every year and they are going strong... I got sick of reaching for a pair of pliers and having to fight them, no more!

I dont think you need titanium pliers for freshwater. However if you fish salt you could use them for both (but they are like $200-300+).
I got one of those Hook Puller Tools last year and it has been awesome in both fresh and saltwater. So much easier to use than pliers.

Super easy to clean too, just push the pin out in the T handle and it all comes apart. They come in different lengths too.

The fishing was good; it was the catching that was bad.

The kind that float.  We're not doing any micro operations on the fish, pinch, twist, push and turn, hook out.

I have a cheap Rapala set, I like it as it has crimps and a hook nose also......I also have hemostats and a jig eye punch, and nail clippers all on one lanyard.

For hooks, it depends on the species I am targeting but I have 5, 8 and 12" hemostats, curved on lanyards.  The 12" are great for large pike or walleye who get the hooks deep.

Otherwise a multi-plier for crimping sleeves, opening split rings and pinching barbs or small repairs on the ice  ;D.

I like the dr slick large mitten scissor clamps best for ice. If you get hemp clamps make sure they have scissors too. I have lots of pliers but those are my favorites for ice. Calcutta makes a decent pair without the mitten style that work well and don't cost much. If you are rich get a pair of van steal titanium 5"

Personally, I don't like those tiny forceps. I clip one right on me when I'm going after panfish, but they are too weak for some bigger hooks. As a pike fisherman, you cant beat the extra long needle nose pliers. My favorite has become an 11" model with a curved tip.

I use the same one.

The problem with all the so called fishing pliers I have seen is that they are designed to pinch spit shot on. BUT they are not designed to remove shot.

I know all about the removable spit shot with the ears. It is too bad that they are made of an alloy that does not let them crimp on the line tight enough to stay in place. I buy all the real soft lead shot that I can find at yard sales etc. and use it as it stays in place.

Luckily I found the spit shot pliers I had put away years ago with some collectable fishing tackle as they are that old. Just wish I did not have to carry two tools when one could do the job.

short hemo's with graphite jaw inserts and gold at finger loops and super short jaws. the short jaws allow you to open them and push down on the hook to dislodge the jig at the hook only. so kind of like a "Y". then close the jaws to pick it out of the fish

i have it attached to a retracting Umpqua fly fish tool holder along with nail clippers to cut line and a tiny black light to recharge glow jigs

i have a second pair of plain ones i use too, in my boat. works the same way

I wear a lanyard around my neck with a pair of 12" hemos, fingernail clippers, depthfinder, the hemos are nice to have when the walleye feel the urge to take the lure down to their mid section.

8 inch curved hemo's on a retractable lanyard. I have it semi permantly attached to my bibs.

I was on a bus and just happened to be sitting on a news paper. This guy came up and asked. "Are you reading that ?"
I said  yes, stood up, turned the page and sat back down.

A pair of needle nose pliers out of my tool box. They have wire cutters on them for when I put a hook thru my finger, I can cut the barb off and pull it out. When they start getting stiff, I oil them and I'm good to go.
