Silver Lake
« on: Mar 11, 2014, 09:31 AM »
Not looking for secret spots or techniques, just some friendly help.

I am hoping to fish Silver Lake in Madison NH because it is near a friend. Does anyone know if it is producing white perch at all? Or anything else for that matter.

I see it is listed by F&G for white perch, but so is Great East. I went to Great East last week with my daughter and we saw 3 fish on the flasher all day. We covered about 3 miles of ice and drilled about 60 holes. I just want to prevent another day like that. I can always make my friend drive elsewhere, but I would like to try something new as well.

I fished there on Sunday.  A nice lake with decent structure, but I only marked 2 decent fish all day, one of which I missed and the other I hooked briefly before it came off.  I caught a bunch of dink perch in one area, and marked some smelts around too.  I had my snowmobile, so I was able to cover water and fish different areas of the lake, but came up relatively empty.  Everybody I talked to hadn't caught anything, and the warden I talked to said it's been slow out there.  I didn't run into anybody fishing for white perch.

It was a nice spot, good scenery around, but I would say that you are better off elsewhere for action.

If you have access to Ossipee just down the road then I can help you out.  The place is loaded with whites, many days of 20 plus fish this winter.

I agree I know of a spot on Ossipee that is loaded with whities. Not to far away and some browns which you may catch as well.

Someone else on a white perch quest this winter! I have had limited success so far. One white caught at Webster Lake in Franklin. Another place I have had success before for whites is Opeechee in Laconia. But access is tough and the ice can be funky, so fair warning.

I know Ossipee is loaded with them! I can keep the kids real busy when we find them during the summer.  Anywhere around the deeper water were the Bearcamp dumps in is a good bet. On the ice I would think the cove just to the left should be good. I'm ashamed to admit we have had a seasonal on the lake for 14yrs and not put any effort into fishing it for trout :-\   i'll have to hook up with Joe one of these days ;D
