Whats under your bibs?
« on: Jan 22, 2014, 09:09 AM »
Has anybody tried the IceArmor Wind Pants? I've been wearing fleece lined bluejeans under my bibs and I thought it would be nice to wear something a little lighter weight.

Polypropylene long johns, and how ever many layers of sweat pants I need. I hate hunting and fishing in jeans.

I wear the vex cold snap suit. Depending on weather I may have just jeans and a long sleave t-shirt and a hoddie on, or I may be wearing long jons, sweats, hoddie, and all. Now before you all start banging on the need for all that i have been known to not even flip the hut over all day if im running from spot to spot all day. I also DO NOT shy from bad weather. One of my best days fishing this year it was -22 actual with 40+ winds. Never even lit the heater.

I was on a bus and just happened to be sitting on a news paper. This guy came up and asked. "Are you reading that ?"
I said  yes, stood up, turned the page and sat back down.

It seems like I live in bibs all winter. With an on the snow job at a ski resort bibs are my workwear. My base layer is Patagonia silkweight capilene long johns. For a mid layer I wear Nike polyester fleece pants and the shell is uninsulated Cabela's Gore-Tex bibs. My upper body is outfitted the same way. Silk weight capilene, polyester fleece mid layers and an uninsulated waterproof breathable shell. Gore-tex is my first choice for a shell but the company provides jackets made from a different fabric. My body almost never feels cold even when things in my outside pockets freeze solid.
