Clam Scout Tarp Repair Help
« on: Dec 18, 2005, 04:31 PM »
Thanks to all who can help.  I had a miserable experience this afternoon.  Just one of those days when nothing went right.  I burned 2 baseball size holes in my Scout tarp when it landed on the heater when I opened it.  Never mind how but never take a dog fishing with you.

In any event, I know I can patch these holes but what is the nest thing to do it with?  Should I just go to Wal-Mart and get a tent repair kit?

Thanks again gals and guys!

I'd contact Clam Corporation and tell them what you did. They may have a repair kit or may sell you some spare material to repair your burn areas.  That way it won't look quite so obvious.

I don't see it listed on their Website so I do not think they have it.  They will probably want me to buy a replacement tarp which I am not going to do.

I also wonder if it would not be worth it to buy a big metal mailbox to the put the heater in so it does not happen again.  All you would need to do is slip the heater in the mail box so if something fell it would not land directly on the burner.

Dr. BG - contact clam.  They will send you a piece of fabric for you to fix it up.  No need to buy the whole tarp.  Their number is on their website, so just give them a call.

If clam won't send the material, go to a place that makes boat tops. Get a small scrap and use the stuff called ShooGoo glue. It will attach anything to anything and it lasts a long time.
I had a buddy who got carried away with the fire and melted a number of holes in my Guide model top. ShooGoo has them filled in nicely for the past 3 years and no leaks so far.

BTW, The dog just needs to learn propper edicate while fishing in a shanty. If you teach him right he could be a great partner on the ice. Do, ALWAYS, bring a blanket for him so he has some comfort when play time is over.

Dr. Bluegill, Just because they don't have it on there website, doesn't mean they don't have it. Honestly, If it were me, I'd give them a call first before going with alternative plans.

Bluegill,

Bean is right.  CALL CLAM CORP!  They will send you a patch either free or for a small cost.  I have friends that had a similar problem with their Trap and Clam Corp "happily" solved their problem. ;)

I guess Clam is OK with customer support! When my sled cracked, I contacted them.
For $132 + S&H they would send me a new sled! For about $12 I bought a piece of aluminum and some rivets and glue and it is fine!
