Went to this lake last year in June for the first time.  Had a great time with lots of Big Pike.  Caught hundreds of Walleye but nothing over 19".  Wondering if anyone had any info on the lake and maybe where to find some bigger walleye on the lake? Thanks

Hello Millerltman, I have been to Little Vermilion lk. twice, 1967 and 1980. I know it was a long time ago but I seem to remember getting a few 20+ lb. pike off the mouth of Nungesser river (creek?) at the north west end of the lake. The best pickerel were caught in some fast water at an out flow to another lake I (think) at the opposite end, SE. Hope this helps. By the way, does Al and Fran Geary still run the place or one of their sons??? Is it still called Sportsmans Lodge?? Or is it not still the only lodge on the lake???...................Boo g

Boog...The pike were not a problem, in 7 days we caught 6 fish over 40 and 7 fish between 36-40".  We just couldn't catch a walleye over 18", we probably averaged about 40-50 walleye each day. I think the out flow is maybe around the Chakunni River? Al's son Brett and his wife Judy run Sportmans now, they do a great job. The only other place I saw on the lake was an outpost camp.  Were going back for two weeks this June, the last week we are bringing a High School Fishing club up for five days(8 kids).  I think these kids will have a blast on that lake.

Millerltman...Thanx for the update on Sportsmans. I'd like to get back there again one day. The best lure I found for larger Pickerel was a chrome Canadian Wiggler (cut bait) Best of luck to you in June and have a great trip..........Boog
