Deep Fry Batter

Mother did up a batter the other night of just flour butter and water. It's fantastic. Going to go with that for the fish fry this weekend. Thanks again for all the ideas. I will be sure to try most of them sometime in the future!

I like the more flour based recipes, I wish I could find one I used to use called wild life seasonings cajun flavor. I have made my own for years now. Never thought about adding cornstarch. I will try that next time.

We got hooked on using instant mashed potatoes - stays super crispy, doesn't soak up the oil - just make sure the oil is real hot - add your favorite seasonings; you can do an egg/milk wash to help the flakes stick.  Inexpensive and MUCH better than fish crisp, at a buck a bag - its worth trying, you won't regret it.

Next batch is instant mashed potatoes, been wanting to try it!

If you like the flour based batter you really need to try FRY CRISP not to be confused with fish crisp.  Fry Crisp is awesome though sometimes hard to find outside of the heartland.
