ok...ive been contemplaiting these for a long time, set them up and used them for the first time, and after working out the kinks was super happy with the results.im using them on my frabill pro thermal tip ups, but if your flag spring is strong enough( these parts are really light) the should work on almost any tip up/ tip down

i picked up some first alert door entry alarms....pack of 4 for 9.99 at a local drugstore. in the as seen on tv section.. they have a switch for off, chime or alarm. these things ars super loud. alarm mode goes of like a siren constantly , while the chime mode makes a loud ding dong once. it is activated when the small part attached to the flag is moved away from the actual alarm..here is a pic set up in the game room  waiting for a flag  ::)

and a close up of the alarm

i  just attached the one piece to the flag with wire ties. at that distance apart in the pic, the alarm is not activated. we found after losing the first 2 fish becase the flag jammed against the spindle and the pike broke off the hook, that do not use the adhesive back on the alarm. just set it on the base to if the flag needt to it can push it out of the way. worked flawlessly after that

i caught the cat!!!!

the light on the top is just a clip on saftey light, that is actually a little lighter than frabills tip up lights. strobes red. geat in low light or darkness when you here the alarm to know exactly where the tip up is. they were 1.00 a 2pack at a local auto parts store

and the thing i like the best about the pro thermals

the light and the alarm base will go nicely in the built in takle box

we have ten pro therms wired for light and sound now!!

i had a few guys tell me while were were using them, that they thought they were pretty cool, so i thought i would share...any feedback would be appreciated

Nice ideas with the light Billy!  I'd seen the alarms used before, but the light is pretty neat!  Can you tell me what the name brand of the light is?    I'd like to look into them due to such low light up north.  Great job!  Barleydog

they look cool...."clap on...clap off....clapon,clapoff.....THE CLAPPER!"  Just kidding.  I may look for a couple of packs and give it a try.  Would be great for any kind of fishing, even during the day when you are intently jigging in your shack then look up after 20 minutes and see you 've got a flag!

I was thinking of doing the same thing for targeting stripers thru the ice at night. Just have to figure out how to adapt them to my heritage laker tip-ups.

They look good though. I prefer to listen for the flags going up myself (maybe I'm nuts that I can hear my tip-ups being tripped??)

I've been looking into a nightime walleye tipups setup, I was going to blow big bucks for LED car rim lights...but now with this, well things have changed. ;D

well, the alarm is on the top of that unit, and sends soundwaves straight up. and the polars are insulated besides. so imnot sure how loud they would be a few feet underwater undernieth them. but you could always just set em to chime, they dont make anywere near the noise they do on alarm

origianaly, i was going to use the onboard tackle box as a battery holder and do the same thing.. i still might on one of em just to see how it turns out. but when you have a bunch of these set up at night, planes might mistake it for a runway  ;D ;D ;D

I don't think that set up would work on my polar tip ups, so maybe just a little bell that would jingle when the flag flies.
They look way cool, nice job!!!
