You being the outdoor kinda guy you must have heard of building snow cave. I have stayed in one at -25 over night and with a candle, space blanket, and snow suit I did not freeze or get hyperthermic. A warm cup of tea and some grub I was good to go. I myself perfer the comforts of hotel. Hopefully this cold spell doesnt last cause we been spoiled the last month eh. Tight lines

good thing about camping in snow is you can drag alot more gear than what you would otherwise carry
I have camped out in 0 degree temps comfortably,
at same time i have packed it up and cut trips short during 20 degree temps because i wasnt prepared

Takes a few hours to build an igloo with one of these but they beat tents for camping in the winter.  I have yet to do an overnight ice fishing trip but it would be fun.  http://www.grandshelters.com/icebox-igloo.html

I camped on the ice last weekend.  I slept in a hub style shelter, on a cot that kept me about a foot of the ice, with a therma-rest underneath me, in nothing but an average sleeping bag.  I was warm.
It sure was nice to wakeup in the morning and fire up the portable buddy heater though, makes it a bit easier to get out of bed.
It was only about -5 where I was.

My winter setup is just a regular tent, cot, and -18C mummy bag. I also have a buddy heater for "just in case" but i usually dont need it (coldest was -12 and i was fine)

-25 outside- grrr. this coming weekend looks like its gonna be a bust for camping, real hard on the fishs eyes for even 30 seconds in this cold temps to be out of the water and then release them. hmmmm maybe i should take up playing video games or something...
