been fishing off of public landing in springfield, theres 6in of ice there. no ice from 5 point down.

My family is planning an all day trip to otsego lake this Saturday but we are unsure of how much ice is on the lake down by glimmer glass state park. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

6-7" at Public Landing, I have not checked Glimmerglass lately but I would assume it is good after all this cold. Check it as you go-Be SAFE!  Some of the northern parts of Otsego just froze this week, especially south of Glimmerglass (Hyde Bay).

Thank you! We are planning to fish the shallows (20-30 ft) and all the lakes we have been to have had good ice. Just wasn't sure about there because I know it takes a lot longer to freeze. Just wondered if anyone has been out there yet.

i have family down that way and they were off the point behind the fenimore museum. they were pulling some nice 30+ inch lakers out. They were on 5+ inches of ice

Unless u plan on fishing very shallow  in Glimmerglass its deff not safe yet.furthest I could get out(drilling every 15 ft) was maby 12 ft of water.2 guys were fishing in 8 ft which had ok ice but then it immediately goes to 2inches. then was 1.5 inches at most where I was. that's as far as I was willing to go. drilled a few holes that were as little as an inch which gets kind of scary. I know 2 nights ago there was open water areas out there. had a bar with my I hit into the ice and almost lost it it went through so quick. so..maby by the weekend ppl will make it out a little further but deffinitly wont be fishing out of the bay I don't think. what is frozen out that way is just old broken ice chunks frozen together for the most part. Public landing everyones saying safe though so that must be a different story.. I saw 0 ppl fishing up that way when I was there yesterday though so don't know first hand. Be safe

Is there easy access by the Fenimore house ?

Headed out there in a few weeks with my uncles and friends from work... Any helpful tips for ice fishing this lake in terms of bait/jigging/depth/areas?? Not trying to take anyone's honey hole but looking foward to catching some different, nice fish for a change! Very excited for this trip!

Brhat20 if your fishing lakers you can catch them from 40 feet to 120 alot of times they are only like half way down white with minnows work great for us
