Not to stir things up, but how many are putting name tags on your flip ups? Be an easy pop for Mr. Green Jeans.

The rule States the you must have your name in 3 in letters on an unattended portable shanty so you try to figure that one out.

When you hole hop and leave the shanty it's unattended.

Unless flipped back to a sled instead of a shanty. Its only a shanty when flipped up

Why not just put them on there and you don't have to worry about it. Just my opinion. I have mine on.

If you do that you might as well put a big sign out in front of your house telling everybody your gone. And everything in side is free .

It's the same as a unattended flag.  You don't have to sit right on top of your flag or your shanty.  You do need to be in a reasonable view of it.  A C.O. told me once if he can get to my flag from shore before I can, I'm to far away.

The only shanties I have seen that need the lettering are the ones out on the ice with no one in them or around to claim them.

Not sure if the guy sitting 30 feet away from you on the ice is the one you need to be worried about ::)

with the crap going on today, its a valid point.

example:
maybe some guy is mad about you for posting a great bite at.... , lets say a gravel pit, and wants to get you back. lol your address is right there. could work the other way too. it mite stop some people from being jerks if their address was rite there behind them, on the shack.

wow 200$!!!! i got lucky one night then! set a tip-up out and the flag blew off at some point. when i noticed it, i reset it rite next to the shack(permy with name n addy). the man came out and asked about it. i told him the story and he seemed ok with my tail. he still made me walk back to his truck, to give me a warning ticket. i could have very well got pinched and 200$ is a lot for me.

is there a place, on line, to see what fines are?
