Perch... best shot in UT for jumbo's

Moving from PA to UT has been a pretty easy transition for me with one huge exception... the size of Yellow Perch out here. Back in PA I wouldn't ice a perch unless it was on the plus side of 10" and most keepers ran between 11-13 inches with the occasional jumbo pushing past 14.

I haven't seen anything remotely close to that in UT as of yet (outside of a few 10-11 inchers from Utah Lake). Are there any lakes that are known for producing large perch? I've dug up past reports of Yuba producing jumbo's, but nothing recently that I have seen.

Welcome to Utah Perch ice fishing...haha...yes Yuba does still have some nice Perch along with Starvation and I'm hearing Echo also but you have to work to find them.  Best Perch fishing for the size Perch you're used to would be up in Idaho at CJ Strike and/or Lake Cascade.  We fished Cascade last year and yep got into some nice Perch caught the usual 8" Utah year class but most Perch we iced were 12" plus.  Good Luck.

The short answer to your question is no. As Muskie said Cascade is probably your best bet but it's much too far away for a day trip.

Biggest I've seen come thru the ice in utah was at echo, but as stated you have to find them and hope they are willing. I will post up a pic of it later. It weighed 1lb 3oz i forget the length but it was a jumbo. I would love to make a trip to cascade and rip some lips on pigs like these

Wow, Cascade seems to have the right chemistry for monster perch... reminds of the hawgs that would come out of Lake Wallenpaupack back in PA.

Looks like I'll have to keep Echo on my radar (yuk yuk).
