I checked the Chauncy's today. The access road is real sloppy getting in and out of Little Chauncy. Someone had walked out 30 or 40 yards testing the ice. I chose not to go that far out. There is about 3 inches of black ice with some slop on top and it was getting soft. With the continued above freezing temps I'm not going to chance fishing there just yet.
It looks like someone was fishing the boat ramp cove at big Chaucy recently, and they went out pretty far. Again the ice was softening up, so I'll wait on this one too. If the lake doesn't open up in the next three days maybe it thicken up with the colder weather that is coming.
