No minnows on the Tongue River Res.
« on: Dec 08, 2013, 12:53 PM »
I heard the other day that the person and business that was supplying live minnows out of the vending machine last year on the Tongue River Res is not going to do it any more. I think this is going to kind of screw up the fishing until some one else comes in. Has any one else heard any thing. I am needing to know where to purchase minnows so I can fish the res. Any help would  be appreciated.
Thanks

You can buy bait in MT and store it in the river or under the ice at the reservoir. Those are our choices-no exceptions and we have a warden that will enforce it.

I would like to try and get something going with one of the Mont bait dealers. Hope I can get something going there. If not, like you say, store them in the river or under the ice on the lake.
Thanks

drifter- have you been there on a Saturday or Sunday? Billings plates as far as the eye can see.  Although it is an incredicible pain in the arse, the law is the law.  I can't wait to chip a foot of ice out every time I want bait......said no one ever. ;D

I really think it was the WGFD that said no to transporting minnows across state lines. It is all the same
Tongue River Drainage! What a mess! Just what I am looking forward to also. Chip, chip, chip, need to get
a chisel I guess! LOL

i thought it was no minnows to be transported (into wyoming), not out of wyoming.

pretty sure both states (MT and WY) have laws against bringing in live fish across state lines.

Wyo or Mont seems it does not make a difference at this pint in time. Like always everyone will make do and we will still catch some good fish! Fish On !!!!!!!!!

Could you imagine the arrests being made if DEA ever went after meth labs like the G&F go after minnow haulers?  ;D

Good gosh almighty! The govt wants voters to be able to vote without having to show any ID! We have illegal aliens, er I mean, Undocumented Citizens, draining our systems and then they want to grant amnesty to all of them... Yet I as an American Citizen need to carry a slip of paper documenting my dozen 1" minnows so I can be heftily fined if I cross a State line or venture into the wrong drainage?!?!?   :roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao: :cookoo: :%$#!:

Some folks have their priorities way outta whack!  :cookoo:

Should be able to use the same minnows from the Belle Fourche drainage. Both rivers drain into the Missouri River. I believe the Wyoming minnow situation is a joke. Go to North or South Dakota and buy minnows for a fraction of the price, not 5 dollars a dozen. Just another way to collect seine license fees and tickets to write. Dont have to have a special license in North or South Dakota, or Montana to catch your own minnows. Thiefs

Wyoming minnow regulations could certainly use some cleaning up but at the same time im glad they aren't letting everyone coming into the state bring there own minnows along with whatever problems that state might have in terms of invasive species.  If zebra mussels could come in attached to a boat I would imagine they can come in with a bucket of minnows, plus diseases etc.  Putting up with tight minnow regs seems like a better proposition to me than having one of our lakes ruined because of some crap someone brought in from michigan.
