I really gotta wonder why its nessasary to move a thread  to a different area without any "moved" post in the original location.Not to mention the countless auger  and rod threads that have been in "General chit chat" without getting moved.I almost reposted because I thought the original didnt post.Ok I vented,now I feel better.

Actually I feel like total doggy doodoo,I have a head cold and a sore throat.My stuff isnt ready AND we should have ice by mid week if the weather report is right.Hopfully feeling good enough to get everything ready tommorow.WOnt have time to check on my threads here though,it will take to long to figure out were they went.

ROTFLMAO Icejunky . Well we already have that and its called the archives and what we need is an automatic search button that gets generated at the mere mention of augers,sonar,sleds,huts,cameras,lines and of course your biggest baddest fish caught through the ice . LOL

Personally I'm cool with the repetition.  There are only so many topics we can discuss before things are repeated.  Every thread brings it's own element of discussion even though the topic may have been flogged to death. 

If everyone just did an archive search and didn't post, things would be pretty inactive around here wouldn't they

For that matter one could just sit back and read a book about ice fishing

interesting post caroga kid...you are absolutely right. this site rocks the way it does because of the members (which is what the mods are too.)  but we also want to keep this a family friendly site. kids love icefishing and my kids sit and read posts with me often as im sure do many others. i think if you ask any mod on this site the last thing we want to do is to remove a post. so many times a good post with good info is removed because the person posting it just needed to add that expletive, or that innapropriate joke. our policy is never to modify posts so if it is unacceptable to the general public it is removed.

That is one of our jobs as moderators - to keep the site neat and orderly, which at times calls for us to move posts to the proper forum. That way members can find things easier.

I have to say I'm with Trevor on this one... I generally always search before posting a question or new thread.  However, even if I have gone through the searches and found some relavent info, I'll still post my question if necessary as there maybe updated info./equipment out there!  Not to mention that, but like he said - if there wasn't as much repetition, there might not be as much discussion!  Then there wouldn't be as much fun, heckling, friend making, etc!!!!    I dunno... maybe I'm just a chatterbox!!!

I've also had a few of my posts moved, although I haven't had ANY trouble finding them AT ALL after they have been moved.  I apologize for sometimes not posting in the proper forum, however, it does sometimes appear that discussions get more activity when they are posted in the general forum... Nonetheless... I'll try to keep the proper spots in mind in the future!  Good job mods!!! NO complaints from me!

It just seems in past years general chit chat... was general chit chat. Where you could post stuff related to ice fishing..Now it seems everything has it's own category, like my post about tip-up flags.. I considered that general chit chat, but that was moved to the tip-up category...

I think this site is getting better with age. With over 8200 members and over 100,000 posts I am sure you will agree that things here run pretty smooth. Sure there will be questions asked over and over again but with new members comming here every day it is inevitable. If a post is moved it is done to help keep the site more organized. Moving a post to a "proper location" is done for both Mods and the person posting. I personally look for areas of this site in which I want to read, if I wanted to read about tip-ups that is where I go. If I wanted to read about catching Pike that is where I will go, and so on. Putting a topic in its rightfull place will help us as mods and also give you as a member posting a question the best possible ansewer to that question you can get.

To be honest, I use the  "show unread posts isnce last visit" and the "show new relies to your posts" links way more then I would enter into a specific area such as gerneral chit-chat. If by chance one of my posts gets moved so be it, by using these links you can find any active post with ease. All the mods are doing is keeping the boards clean, hey sombody has got to do it!
