Where do you put your Flasher while fishing?
« on: Dec 01, 2013, 08:05 PM »
I have been putting my flasher on a bucket next to my hole while fishing in order to keep it more eye level and to keep it off of the water that forms on top of the ice because of the heater in my shanty....I am finding the arm holding the transducer to keep getting in my way while jigging...any of you guys use anything that keeps the flasher of the ground but at a lower level? let me know!

I put mine right behind the hole so I can see it and the tip of my rod at the same time...

I put mine right in front of the hole so I can see my rod tip while fishing but close enough to me so I can move it out of the way if need be.

I use mine on ice between hole and myself to watch it and rod tip, also have the lure lightning light on it so it makes it easier to charge up a glow jig and back down the hole

I run mine on top a bucket behind my hole and to the left. My flasher doesn't use a transducer arm though, just the standard Vex float and stopper, which lets me place the flasher where it's easiest to see. It doesn't cost much to rig up a similar set up on most other flashers, if you'd like.
A bad day of fishing beats anything else I'd be doing today.....

On top of a bucket alongside the hole.

I usually drill two holes about 4 ft apart....the width of my rod holders on the sled and then a third hole in between them and a foot further away from me...set the bucket upside down over that hole with the HB 356 color on it. within easy reach for adjusting the settings and views. I also kinda wedge the transducer float between the bucket handle (bail) and the side of the hole....keeps it straight up and down. Sometimes if I am perch fishing I will move the bucket to the side and fish in that hole too.
Remember...just cuz you arent paranoid...doesn't mean they're not out to get ya!!

when i'm not in the wheel house i drill 3 holes using the middle one for the transducer... no tangle & i can still reach the lure lightning w my foot to charge the lures. the marcum & the vex will pick up both lures/holes no problem ;)

I always drill a separate hole and sit in back of the hole on the ice, and I put some insulation in the battery box  this way I don't have to pull the transducer out of the water, if water is on the ice I have a short stand i place it on , in my one man I run 2 holes parallel , I don't mind wasting couple Min's drilling the extra hole

To keep it out of the thin skim of water that the heater makes I put mine on the lid of the 5 gal pail that i brought the minnows out on the lake.  Keeps the vex nice and dry, and have the lid for the pail out on the lake anyways.
