Meal Worms For Perch?
« on: Mar 15, 2006, 10:25 PM »
My friend and I went out and bought some shinners and a package of mealworms. There are about 5 minnows left outta 50 and we didn't get any bites with mealworms but yet all I hear is good things about them and wax worms. How do you use them properly and what kind of hooks do you use. We were using dropper rigs with 2 hooks and a minnow on the bottem and a meal worm on top. And nothing on the mealworm so we switch them up and the same thing happens. I'm heading out Saturday and want some advice quick.

Also how many of you think that iceshany is dieing down for the season. :'( :'( :'(I do and it is sad gonna have to go over to MMF till the ice comes again next Nov. or Dec.

I have never had luck with mealworms for perch. Normally i just use maggots (spikes). I have however had good luck with mealworms and bluegills. and while bluegill fishing I  have been outfished when my partner was using waxworms and I was using spikes.

Hope that clears something up :)

Ussually when the bite is real good I will switch things up and figure out what may work even better and what the fish turn their noses at :) makes you a better fisherman in the long run.

Yes IS is slowing down alot of guys dont have safe ice anymore especially thius season. I alwyas find myself checking up on IS  until our ice is completly gone. Icefishing is by far my favorite kind of fishing. :)
