Sucker Chub Sores
« on: Nov 27, 2013, 08:08 PM »
Last winter when keeping sucker chubs in my bait tank, after 7-8 days they would begin to develop sores along their backs and I wasn't able to quite figure out where they came from.  My only guess was that it could be from the PH balancer that I was using, that it was in some way burning them.  I keep my bait water really clean and highly oxygenated and filtered.  I use fresh lake water which I half to walk out front and collect in 5 gallon buckets.  I typically change the water every day or so.  Just wondering if anybody has ever encountered this before.  My bait tank holds around 18 gallons and usually I have 10-15 of them in there along with fatheads and emerald shiners.
This sport takes a certain amount of character in a man that we all should respect and take pride in.
