Clam   Shappell  Frabill   HT   Eskimo   Otter   and more.

There are enough threads here to last you until the ice forms (next year!). You need to keep in mind your usage needs, budget, etc., and take the argumanatory information with a grain of salt (tastes great! Less filling!).

Oh I know all about the mine is the best arguments but I was trying to save myself some time and see what guys have to say.  I've looked at some but there doesn't seem to be many insulated models.  Now uninsulated ones are a dime a dozen.

Do you want to be "cramped" or have plenty of "space" around you?  Are you concerned with weight?  Not too many insulated units that fit in the "light weight" category.
I like my Otter Cottage (fully insulated) and plenty of space for a good sized guy to be comfortable in.  I take out one of the seats and that makes room for my fishing style.  Running two two rods and having a third at the ready for when the bite gets "hot".  The Otter has a strong framework and is well designed.
I am contemplating replacing the seat(s) this year with something a bit more "cushy" and comfortable (something with armrests).
Good luck on your choice and hope you enjoy your ice season.
If you don't like what you get, you can always sell it, or pass it on to someone you like; and try again next year.  Been there, done that, more than once.
I will always be looking for something "better" than what I have.  ;D

I run a Clam Pro TC on-man flip and am 6' and 215lbs to 235lbs (depending on if you were to weigh me at early or late ice!  ::)), and have plenty of room to work a couple of holes, with space left over for a 5g bucket with Vex on top and a Jr Buddy heater. Weight is around 65-70lbs and drops significantly f you pull out the plush swivel seat it comes with. I've seen them as low as $299 at some sites already this year. Watch Craigslist or eBay in your area and you may score a sweet deal too.

Another option is to buy an uninsulated model and buy some reflectix and insulate your flipover.  It would save you some cash, and it works great.

Foil faced bubble wrap - retains form well, folds well, no noise from it flapping around
Reflects cold from dropping into flip-over + keeps heat in + should eliminate condensation on ceiling on those sub-zero or single digit days

This was taken halfway thru the process of installation - since cleaned it up + opened vent flaps at top

Frabill makes a thermal commando with a price somewhere in 375-400 range. If its as good as my commando max it has to be good.

I was on a bus and just happened to be sitting on a news paper. This guy came up and asked. "Are you reading that ?"
I said  yes, stood up, turned the page and sat back down.

my recommendation is still the Clam Legend if you plan to hand pull it or the Clam X1 if you plan to pull it with a machine. the typical price for a fully insulated one man will start at that $400.00 mark and goes as high as $650.00. the upfront cost is a lot but over the life of the house it is not that bad.
