42-43° all over Bussey on Friday 10/25.

Snow on the ground this morning from yesterday's snowfall and a skin of ice over half of the backyard pond. It'll all be gone soon, but it means the pond temperature is so close to freezing that a couple of cold days & nights will start the process.

Been watching Spirit temps. It seems like it was dropping until today. It started rising. Is that the lake turning over?

Possibly. I believe the key temperature for turnover is 39°F, the maximum density point of fresh water.

West O ( Emerson ) was 40 on Sunday afternoon, based on experience the restof West should be 2-4 degrees warmer and Spirit 2-4 degrees lower.... Sunny today and the temp sensor is on the shallow sand on the south end of Spirit.....Spirit isn't deep enough to thermocline so dont have whats typicaly known as a turn over due to the wind we get keeping it mixed, West does in places but not the whole lake.....

Lakes start to turn over whenever the water temp above the thermocline gets colder than the water just below the thermocline...usually mid to low 50s

Thanks for the insight. Was just curious. It looked like it was headed in the right direction and then took turn the other way.
