replacement sled for FishTrap
« on: Dec 06, 2005, 07:04 PM »
Does anyone know where I could purchase a replacement polyethylene base (ie sled) for a FishTrap Pro? Six seasons of wear has left holes at both front corners, leading to a snowplow effect, with most of the snow ending up inside of the sled. I see that Clam is selling replacement tents, but I can't find the bases. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Can't you get them right from the company?  Oh yeah, the wear is prevented with a set of 'runners'...the company sells them too.

Clam Corp sells them. I called last season I believe they were $65.00 plus shipping.  ;)

If its not too bad why not patch it?  Get a piece of aluminum or plastic and rivet it over the holes.

Thanks for the info. For $65, I'll probably call the company...wonder why they don't list them in the catalog or on the web? Anyway, I did try the epoxy route, but even with a patch, it wouldn't hold in the cold. Buddy of mine told me that you actually using a special type of welding to fix high-temp molded polyethylene. Beyond me. Thanks again.

GatorNY you're welcome and your buddy is right. It's similar to "stick" welding but the rod (stick) is plastic. It's an expensive option. Several seasons ago I tried hot melt glue for plastic on a few cut pieces of plastic edging. It held the season but was temporary. I had to glue/patch from the inside.
