White earth bay burbot??
« on: Jan 31, 2012, 03:17 PM »
Anybody have any info on locations to catch burbot here? Been fishing for eyes for a few weeks from ten to fifty feet and have not caught one. Usually they take walleye setups if they are around. So my conclusion is they must not be where I'm fishing. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Ling are usually pretty easy to catch up there.  Look for main lake points near the old river channel where there is usually some current.  They can be pretty deep during the day 50-70 FOW, and some will move up during low light periods.  Jigging pretty aggressively with spoons tipped with a minnow head or GULP minnow heads will usually catch more than tipups or bobber lines.  Ling LOVE glow lures at night, charge often.  Try right in front of the beacon on Beacon Island above the New Town Bridge.  I've caught lots of ling on that ledge, but always be mindful of ice conditions as it can change quickly there because of the current.
