The wife had to work all day Saturday so I gathered up the little ones put some screws in their boots and we hit the ice early. Seemed like the bass were really active as we landed many smallies and a some nice Larry's, including a 5 pounder. All in the kids had a blast, they even got a mid day nap in, which is always a plus.
Just practicing my drop shot technique.
And here we have a nice hog we landed on a tip up. The little ones were pretty amazed. My daughter kept asking all kinds of question, while the boy, well, he just wanted to touch it!
The boy trying to pull his big sister during a lull in the action.
After taking care of the kids all day having supper and relaxing for a bit, it was time to head back to the ice for some crappie fishing. Man, every one of these was caught on something different, it was as if they all had something different in mind for food--dead minnows, minnow head, meal worm, glow jig, tube jig, crappie nibbles, etc. All in a great day fishing. I must have lost 3-4 nice ones at the hole and missed a bunch more. My St Croix Legend Light rod is a bit stiff for these finicky buggers and my UL hasn't gotten here yet. All in a great day and night of fishing, about 12 hours total!
