I spoke w/Tom Noonan who advised it's the 3 largest fish in eligible categories.

Not just Togue for top prize, he advised he would post something on our site asap.

One last question:

      If each fish entered is an entry in the fish pool drawing, what is the limit on how many fish you are allowed to register each day?  Can I enter an unlimited number of perch thus having  multiple entries for the fish prize pool drawing since there is no limit on perch?  I just thought this should be considered as it may effect some people's fishing strategy for the derby.

“Fish Pool Prizes” Each fish entered is one chance in the drawing  for the following prizes :

   Ski Doo “Tundra LT” snowmobile from Richardson’s
   Marina  ($4,300 value)
   $1,000 Cash
(2) $500 gift certificate prizes
Jiffy Power Auger
(2) Vexilar Flashers
Plus several sporting goods prizes totaling approximately $1,000.00

“Fish Pool” prizes will be drawn by lottery.
The heaviest fish from each species will be entered into the drawing.
(For example- the heaviest Crappie could win the snowmobile.)

Forgive me for asking, but which one is it??  It could make a difference in what I save for weigh-in.  Should I just not pay attention to the derby Prize page??

What I was told was that the official statewide rules are what has been posted online is current and accurate:

what I see from that information on the 'statewide' rules for the fishpool is as follows:

“Fish Pool” prizes will be drawn by lottery.
The heaviest fish from each species will be entered into the drawing.
(For example- the heaviest Crappie could win the snowmobile.)


The overall top three fish will not be eligible for the “Fish Pool” drawing.

So, excluding the top 3 fish,

The fish pool will have 8 entries for the 6 or so prizes. Biggest Brown, biggest black crappie, biggest Yellow, Biggest white, biggest chain pick, biggest Pike, biggest Musky.

I don't think you can register 100 crappie, 100 perch etc.  At least the way I read the 'state wide' rules.

But, I'm not the derbyguy, just my 2cents to the question asked.

here is the easy way to under stand the prize pool  say we have 11 prizes OK  the top 3 heaviest will win the top 3 prizes then the other 8 heaviest fish will go into the fish pool drawing for the other prizes lets say that there drawing for the snow machine now bwg got in the pool with a 10lb touge and i got in with a 3 lb perch they pull my name with the 3 lb perch i win the snow machine and my name is taken out of the fish pool drawing and they draw the next prize etc etc
