i have seen the same thing this year more than once, not an excuse for the unacceptable behavior, but i think it may be caused by the slow fishing, people are only catching a few fish, not enough for a meal and throwing the ones they have caught on the ice when they leave. my brother was fishing up at carmi this last weekend and the game warden had a trash bag with 6-7 nice unskinned pike in it that someone had left on the ice. some people....
lazy d-bags
Probably won't help by posting on IS, those so called fishermen are most likely not on this site. Seen the same thing up here too but never able to catch anybody in the act. Very sad indeed.
We have been seeing the same thing in Malletts Bay. Mostly dinks on the ice that could grow to be keepers aren't given the chance. Very frustrating that there are complaints of the quality and quantity of fish being caught yet this is happening.
even worse are the people that left 2 big piles of perch guts at the edge of the parking lot at Larrabies access a couple of years ago, gosh,if you are going to go to all the trouble of cleaning your catch,at least take the mess home with you.
I have thrown so many little dink perch back into the water that i have lost count years ago, but i am always thinking that maybe one of these dink perch will grow up be a big slammer perch someday.
I've approached people who do this and asked why don't you keep those fish to eat or throw them back? They say they are helping the game fish by removing the junk...classic bucket biologists at work...I bet they learned it from their dads
If they want to help the game fish and they feel this is the best way of doing it more power to em, if they are within the means of the law. I would just note that the fish they are leaving on the ice are yummy and would be more than glad to take them off their hands!
