CPR then make a replica. Lake trout can live a long time and get very big. In Wyoming I've seen 25lbs up to 40 lbs. For me 40" and I'm make a replica.

Thank you Lord for thinkin bout me. I'm alive and doin fine!!!!!!

I think I like the replica idea. That way I don't have to think bout whether or not I want to mount a fish or if maybe I will get one bigger. I can take my time making the decision if I go with the replica. I did some looking and I am not to sure the fish get 40" on this lake. Have heard of a 20 lbs or two but that was only 37". My best so far is 34" and 11lbs.

I agree with CPR (Catch - Picture - Release).

I think the day is long gone when you impress anyone with a mount.

I'll agree with this guy and most of the others that have chipped in. I chase muskies during open water and have developed a very strong C&R ethic. Big fish just are not easily replaced. And sure as you kill one to skin mount, next year (or two) you catch a bigger one. Then what..........

Done that with deer except there's no C&R.

Reasons to consider a replica:

1. Cost is very near a skin mount
2. Way more durable
3. Looks just like the fish you caught (if you take good pics)
4. Most important - the fish lives to grow larger and contribute it's superior genes to the pool.

If you're in WI, Joe Fittante or Ron (now probably his kids) Lax are the go to guys for glass lookalikes.

A big fish just doesn't eat that well and it's value to the resource is greater in the water than on the wall..........

Really..........Just my opinions based on my experiences.........us er mileage may vary. Everyone is entitled to what the law allows. You make the call........

To fish or not to fish? That's a stupid question!
