I think it may be worse than what everyone is saying.  I was there on the weekend and it is not bad to 2 miles out - but still lots of slush.  I heard from others guys coming off it gets worse further out.

About 4km's out is where it really turns into a complete mess, beware!! Sled with lots of hp a 136"+ and more than 1.5 track is almost a must.

we went out on the 18th and didn't even get a bite.  Only able to go once a year and now have been skunked both times.  We even make sure to go where there was a fair amount of ice shacks so we knew there was some action there but not that day.  Very discouraging.

Was out yesterday, ZERO slush or flood water, talked to a few guys that came across the lake and said it was good. Did see a couple spots where IT HAD been trouble but it was -22 in the morning so it was all avoidable

Oh yeah, flags were busy all day, nothing huge, I landed my personal best, a 17.8lb and a 7lb, one guy landed a 11, 13, and a 15, in that order increasing his personal best each catch! And the "guide" managed to pull up a 4lber and lost a couple in the logs.

Well that is somewhat promising news to hear. I assume you are out on the flats? If so how far out are you and where did you come onto the lake? I'd like to get out to Elk Island area, but my last attempt a few weeks ago ended up with me being stuck in 12"+ slush/water for a good hour, I eventually had to turn back, and didn't even get to drop a line. The visability was terrible though and I couldn't see more than 10ft in front of me.

About 3 miles out, came on at the usual spot, end of what I call greenhouse road

The slush is only going to continue to get worse, flats and Elk Island area are a write off for me until open water season.

I wonder if a person could get onto Tobin Lake off highway #123 at the boat launch just before E.B Campbell Dam and would the
conditions on the lake be any better out that way?

You can get on there with snowmobile, would conditions be any better? I doubt it, the slush isn't on the outter edges only, it's in the middle of the lake as well.

yeah u can get on at the resort on the south side with a few possible options as where to go ie. the point, serenity, or the hump.  prudents or carrols on the north side very good access as well for vehicles

Funny...I have a buddy that sleds all the way across the flats to get to his spot, was there yesterday, never mentioned it being bad when i asked him about floodwater, seems like you always get the worst days DBK

You will be ok with them, I was on a 121" 500cc pulling a good size sleigh, a 600 with a 1.5" 136" or longer track would have powered through it. It's the worst I have ever seen, but lets be honest, it could be open water and a mountain sled could still skim across.

Does anyone know if prudens point is accessible by truck? Do they plow a road there like they do at the resort?

Thanks!

Fished tobin yesterday wasn't the best but the places I could go we're limited. Ended up with about 15 nice perch 6 small wAlleye and one pike around 7 pounds.

Looking to go easter weekend, I have never fished Tobin as I live close to Lake of the Prairies.  Would someone be open to sending me some general locations for perch/pike this time of year.  Any help for the last weekend of the season would be appreciated, my inlaws live just south of there and I might need to sneak out for a few hours...

With Inlaws involved you may need to sneek out for a few days!  Better have a sled and sleigh if your going anywhere other than the milk runs.
Take care of the fishery and the fishery will take care of you.
