Well, that is a open question.  Ha, ha, ha.  Well, I don't think there is any law, saying that you can't have a fire on the ice, in Vermont.  Ha, ha, ha, but just wait, some liberal, will pass another law, to outlaw it.  Go figure, the way, the Vermont Leg is going.  No, I have never heard of a law, saying, you can't have a fire on the ice, in Vermont. ;D

Sorry, there is a law, in the Vermont State Parks, that says, that you can't bring in wood, from out of State, or in Vermont, over so may miles, from the area where you are staying, in the State of Vermont, from where you are going to burn it, because of the problem, with bring in un-wanted bettles, etc. ;D

I've seen folks with wood fires burning and game wardens checking licenses and fire wasn't put out and warden went on his way without
the folks burning the wood...so guess its not illegal....I do hope they mark it though because it has to make a weak spot in the ice

So referring to the above and the prior statement.....  you think the liberals are the ones that outlaw the wood transport? Say goodbye to ash with emerald ash borer and forget about the maple industry if the asian longhorned beetle comes in... both commonly transported in firewood... From an value added economic perspective its not so much about the tree hugging liberals but how in their absence would cause a cascading of change. Just saying.  ;D

There was a warden out to day at the waterbury reservoir so i asked him this question. He didn't say that it was against the law but did state that it was a safety concern because unburned wood could end up poking out of new ice and creates a hazard for snowmobile and 4 wheelers

If it is legal please clean up the mess that your fire makes out there.

Duck blinds get burned all the time before their removal date. They make great ice bonfires  ;D Law only states at state fishing accesses no fires. If you figure, to my understanding, when snow is on the ground no "burn permit" or anything is required in VT. The lake is ice, no potential for forest fire, then its ok to do so. Until someone complains..  ;D

Having a fire on the ice is fine as long as you are doing it safely in a contained area and you remove any debris left behind.

You are also more than welcome to help your father set his tip ups out as long as he is present.

Is it legal to have a fire on the ice while ice fishing?

If i have my legal amount of tip ups set up and say my father will be coming out in a while, can i sound his tip ups for him as long as i don't bait them and set the loops and roll them back up one at a time? Thank You

These two questions came about in conversation
