Got wet today in Ottawa Co.

Went out today to check on the ice after the warm temps and rain of last week. Broke through right away off the shoreline. First time I've got wet in a number of years. All this snow isn't going to help either.

I was on a small private lake. I figured it might have been safe from the last few days of cold temps, but there was almost no ice. I was more bummed about not being able to fish than getting wet.

Getting wet is better than getting "DEAD"! Glad you are O.K.! I think you need to go north, plenty of lakes up there with good Ice.

Yea I was surprised to see some local ponds down here with open water even where there was no current. We got some snow too and I thought thats a recipe for someone getting wet. Glad it wasnt worse for you

Hate to say most ice in Ottawa co is unfishable unless you are talking the few lakes on the north side. We got 12-14" of snow again after the second warmup.  Grand river is high as well. Most areas I checked had open water.  North of gr is fine as they didn't much snow before and after the warmups.  Glad your safe slabber.

Ottawa has got slammed with snow the last few days I live in allegan county and all that snow actually can melt ice if there is any so no ice does not surprise me... Might be a while before ice...
