Togue Jigs
« on: Jan 27, 2013, 10:11 AM »
I have been more into jigging togue this year than ever, especially with mr. marcum kicking around. I have found some that work decent, but anytime I get near a tackle shop, I'm like a kid in a candy store. So what is your favorite jig for togue?

So far, there are three clear cut standouts for me. If I am able to tip with bait, I am a HUGE fan of Lindy Slick jigs. If I am fishing with no baits, it is a toss up between the Slender Spoon and the Chubby Darter/Lindy Darter. I am giving up fishing with traps, jigging is the WTG.

Silver Buddy type lures usually do pretty well for me.

The yellow version of the Daredevil with the red diamonds on it tipped with cut bait or white tube jigs.

Airplane Jig or Bionic Bucktail! Tipped with sucker fillet. Jigging tubes seem to produce alot of fish too.

Mackerel jig tipped with sucker belly or a couple shiners, but today they only wanted a plain ole hook with one dead and one live shiner struggling on the bottom under a jack trap.

Caught a bunch today on a 2" rapala airplane jig, had half a smelt on as well. They were rocketing right off the bottom for it.

Never leave home without a plain old leadfish. I have had good luck with one over the years.

Plain no finish on the leadfish. The orange one isn't a bad choice either.

I have used lead fish for years .The gray white, has always been a lot more productive. A fellow named Clayton Hamilton was the orginal designer of them and caught some big Togue at Moosehead with. Later  Bill  ????  bought out Clayton and marketed them I did catch an 8.5 lb Brown trout with one. They worked well for Browns and Lake trout.

Those 3 and 4 inch white tube jigs work pretty good. I like the ones with the red 'bleeding' tails.
