Just wondering what peaple think about fishing Budd lake?

I was wondering what peaple think about fishing Budd lake after what happened.I live across the street from the lake and I really enjoy ice fishing there.I walked out by the beach after work today and the ice seams pretty good,and usually there would be somebody out there giving it a try.

i was planning on going this weekend and the reason no one is out there is pry because it's to damn cold

it's sad what happened, but they don't close a highway forever after there's an accident do they?

Check it on the way out,was by Spruce  Run today, not a sign of ice anywhere. Every body of water is different .

If I get off work in time tomorrow I am going to give it a shot.I live right along side of the lake so I get to watch how it ices up.I wouldn't walk on along sandshore yet but the beach area always had some ice.If I get a chance tomorrow I will let you guys know how thick it is and hopefully have a good pic or two to post.

I go out yesterday for a couple hours.ice was 5" and my holes were freezing up in minutes.i was by the beach

Thanks for the update.  5" will do.  And yes, the lake does now have a stigma about it but life must go on.  Let's face it, most people who "watch" think we're crazy for being out there anyway.

I was out last night and the ice was 6" .my holes were freezing over as fast as I could clean them out.i was there by myself once again and did great in the hour and a half I had,I got 2 big pickeral and a nice pike on tip ups.tryed jigging for a bit but didn't even get a nibble.

I'm new to the budd lake area, but excited to get on the lake!  Where are the entrances/good places to go.  the only information I've really gotten so far is that the whole lake is around 7-8ft deep with rocky bottom?

You can get on budd from the beach parking lot across Fromm 7-11 and you can also access the lake from sandshore rd at the boat launch behind a closed down resteraunt called the boat house.just check the ice if you walk out from there there were a couplelittle spots that were open untill just two days ago but they should have good ice now.you can see where they were easy you can't miss them.

good ice from beach to about even with 7-11 some big fish there but usually on the slow side got to be patient and dont expect alot of flags
