Some questions for fellow ice troller owners
« on: Jan 18, 2013, 07:32 PM »
Picked up one of last years units and have had a chance to try it out a dozen or so times and was hoping anyone with the original, or 2.0, could chime in how their units behave. First, do any of you get a grey scale at all other than in sim mode? I don't get one with aa's or a 12v 8ah, low light conditions in the hub with the backlight on, outside early morning or nighttime. It's black or flickering black. Second, I cannot dial the sens to a point where my jig is a single bar, it's either two or three bars with a flicker. This ends up being a setting between 5-8 with ice mode on/12v, ice mode on 7-11/aa, ice mode off 7-9/12v, or ice mode off 12-17/aa.

The problem is when I have multiple targets many times they converge into just on very big solid bar, I understand the target separation on these units is 2" which means much lower resolution as far as target id but I've used the vx-1(same 2" separation) without this type of problem. This even happens at a sensitivity setting of five/12v. Four or lower and only the bottom is shown. I should add this is in the 20ft range setting as most of my fishing is 8-20ft.

Many thanks in advance to anyone who can reply if their units perform in a similar fashion.
