Chain Lakes report
« on: Jan 17, 2013, 06:13 PM »
Any word from up the chain lakes? I'm thinking of running up there Monday, but have only fished them in the spring/summer.

Fished Killarney and caught small perch.  No flags but talked to someone who did catch some small 20 to 25 inch northerns.  The baits I was using would have been too big for that size fish.  Some open water near launch and ice is only about 3 to 4 inches.  Didn't go far or acrossed lake as some of ice with no snow on it it looked like duck hunters had broken paths through it awhile back and so might be weaker.  You could probably get down by the island  and across ok though.  All the chain lakes probably have some good ice by now but this is the only one I have fished.
