My old boots are on their way out.  I have cold sweaty feet, so I need to get something really warm.

Which would you go for, and why?

Thanks

kb

BTW:    I tried the mickey mouse boots and still had cold feet, and it wasnt that cold out (30's)

I have the cabelas infernos. Boots are comfortable but my feet still get cold at times even with good socks. There is not much insulation up in the toe area.

X2 on the inferno. Mine get cold too. If your feet sweat, try anti-persperant on the bottom. A thin poly liner sock helps too. Worst case, get bread bags, and wear them between your liner and wool socks.

The Predator Extremes are the first boot I have ever had keep my feet warm no matter what.
One pair of Red Head lifetime socks and these boots, and I am good for the duration.
Subzero temps, 6 inches of slush and water, all day or night on a bucket, makes no difference.

You cant go wrong with any of those choices. I have the transalaskans for fishing and the preditors for hunting. My feet stay warm and dry with no sweating. The trans feel a little lighter weight wise. There both great boots. But go one size larger in boot size.

i have the predetors and they are warm. Huge boots.. also, look at sportsmans guide. they have a 2400 thinsulate boot that costs less. i have worn them too and they are also very warm and my feet usually freeze no matter what.

I don't own a portable shanty so I am always fishing out in the open so I need warm boots. I bought the Cabelas predator extreme pac boot last ice fishing season and have yet to get cold feet. My feet have been very comfortable. My last time out the morning temp. was minus 4 and it probably didn't get above 12 degrees that day. I ice fished for 8 hours and my feet stayed warm while standing on the ice. I was wearing a pair of liner socks and one pair of thick wool socks.

Well I think I'm leaning to the predator's. it seems that there are a lot of happy people with them

I have the Cabela's Predator Extreme and would recommend them as long as you won't be hiking more than a mile.  As others have said, incredible warm, only need one good sock that wicks the sweat off your feet and you should be good in temperatures down to 0. They are heavy and bulky though.  I wear them fishing and hunting and after two years feel like they are finally starting to break in more.

I don't feel safe wearing them while driving as you can easily hit both the brake and gas at the same time, for what its worth.

Does anyone know if there is much of a difference between the trans alaska III and the earlier models?  I've seen some trans alaskas that aren't the "III" that are significantly cheaper.  Is the trans alaska too big for hunting?

The trans alaskans are a little bulky but they are worth it to keep your feet warm, they are not made to be running around in even though they will keep your feet sweat free. I have very temperamental feet as I froze them numerous times while I was young playing hockey outdoors. I have tried numerous types of boots including bunny boots but my feet sweat too much in them, and all others couldn't hold a candle to the trans-alaska. Im not sure about the inferno, but go big its worth it. haven't had cold or wet feet in 2 years.
